In "Josephine' s Closet" Angelline nails the conflict of trying to fit in a new environment without giving up our "real-selves". The prose is entertaining and perfect for middle school kids. It has some resemblance to the best seller book Judy Blume. However, I read it for myself (I'm 40) and it kept me entertained all the way. Good book!
Josephine's closet is a fun book for kids and middle graders. The story is about little Josephine who tries hard to make herself comfortable at a new school among classmates who don't seem to notice her. What complicates matters further is her dressing sense. She is 'old-fashioned' as some would say and her passion of mixing and matching different types of clothes doesn't impress her friends too much. She doubts her abilities initially only to rediscover her worth and restore faith in herself.
The book imparts a beautiful message. However, there are a little too many typos in it for me to rate it past three stars. I'm not someone who notices a few typos but this book has an alarming number of those and some grammatical errors as well. It needs a round of editing. That being said, since I liked the story and absolutely loved Josephine, I'd say it makes for a satisfactory read.
